Theatre of One

Jim left home fuming. His wife of 10 years had once again come home drunk. She was belligerent and aggressive. She began slapping and punching towards Jim. All he could do was raise his arms in defense of her attacks. Their son, Billy was in his bedroom crying of fear from the ruckus. Jim knew he had to get out to calm down. He brought Billy to the car and drove him to ‘Gamma and Gumpa’s’ house. They exchanged few words as this was a common occurrence. Jim left Billy with his parents and made his way to the theatre — the only place he could find peace from his crumbling world. Jim wisped away as the opening credits played and quickly forgot about the horrors he’d have to return to in just 2 hours.
